Understanding Timeline Progress and Related Activities

August 31, 2021

We’re in the middle of the congressional recess. Most of the infrastructure work is spread between Senate staff drafting language for the reconciliation bill and individual members of Congress positioning to either gain support from their constituents and colleagues or to express concerns.

A significant step in further understanding of related activities occurred on Tuesday, August 24, when members of the House of Representatives voted to set a deadline of September 27 for voting on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This is the bill that previously passed the Senate and is awaiting further action. Tuesday’s vote also formally started the work in the House on the contents of their version of the reconciliation bill, which will eventually be required to align with the ongoing work in the Senate.
